Bajirao Ballad Peshava was a legendary Maratha general and the founder of the Maratha Empire. He was born in the early 18th century in the small town of Khelna near the city of Pune in Maharashtra. He rose to become one of the most powerful rulers of India, eventually uniting numerous small states under the Maratha banner and expanding their territory to comprise much of modern-day India.
