Maharana Pratap was a Rajput ruler of the 16th century, and is best remembered for his tireless and bloody war against the Mughal emperor Akbar. Maharana Pratap is considered one of the most important figures in India’s history due to his valor and tenacity in the face of insurmountable odds.
Maharana Pratap was born in 1572, the eldest son of Rana Udai Singh of the Sisodia dynasty of Mewar. Along with his brother, Bhama Shah, he emerged as a brave leader and spent his early years learning various martial arts under the tutelage of his father. He also learned the strategies of warfare from his father and the art of ruling from his mother, Rani Karnawati.
With the rise of the Mughals and their energetic ruler, Akbar, Mewar had to face immense oppression.
