Chandragupta Maurya (340 to 298–297 BCE) was the founder of the Mauryan Empire in India in 322 BCE. He is one of the most important and influential figures in India’s ancient history and is acclaimed for having established a stable and well-organized imperial government in India. Before ascending to the throne, he served as the commander and mentor of the renowned general and warrior, Chandragupta Maurya. He unified India with bold military campaigns and political tactics, thus ushering in the golden age of the Mauryan Empire. During his reign, numerous architectural, economic, political, cultural, and religious advancements were made, which laid the foundations of the Mauryan Empire’s vibrant culture.
